It's Guinness 232 Coffee Mocha Time!

The Mocha Latte, for sure doesn’t usually immediately spring to mind when deciding on your drink of choice, but when tasted it can quickly become one of the best winter warmers around, not as sweet as a pure hot chocolate, but just enough and also giving you on occasion that much needed chocolatey caffeine kick!

We hope you enjoy our video, where we prepare for you our Guinness 232 Mocha Latte. The malty sweetness and rich mouthfeel of this Arabica blend, is the perfect partner to the real chocolate. For this recipe we chose to make it with Guinness Dark Chocolate from Lir, for that extra Guinness twist.

It's Iced Coffee Time Guinness 232 Style!

Iced Coffee – So who invented it?

We are told that the first versions of iced coffee, then named 'Mazagran', made their appearance in Algeria around the year 1840 during the battle of Mazagran (pronounced Masagran). During this battle, the French were fighting the Arab and Berber military over Algeria, it took 17 years and during this time milk became scarce, so the soldiers took to adding water to their coffee as a substitute for milk and even drank it as a ‘pick-me-up’ most refreshing cold. Upon returning to France, they brought their new recipe home with them to the local cafés and named it ‘café mazagran’.

A Tiki Tonga South African Hello !

The meaning of Sawubona...

This Zulu greeting, literally means “I see you.” More than words of politeness, sawubona carries the importance of recognising the worth and dignity of each person. It says, “I see the whole of you—your experiences, your passions, your pain, your strengths and weaknesses, and your future. You are valuable to me.”

Sawubona is also infused with the belief that when others “see” me, then I exist. The common response is “Shiboka”, which means “I exist for you”. These are more than greetings. They’re ways to vitalise the other person by giving full attention and presence, communicating how much value they carry within them.

Sawubona. We see you.

May we have the gift to see more clearly together in the years to come.
